A £20,000 donation from the Barker-Mill Foundation (BMF) is enabling two charities to host a high profile festive fundraising event at Winchester Cathedral on 7th December.
‘A Christmas Celebration at Winchester Cathedral’ is being organised by Breast Cancer Haven in Titchfield and The Murray Parish Trust. A number of high profile personalities are set to appear at the event to give readings including, David Tennant, Hugh Bonneville, Olivia Coleman and Timothy West. Distinguished soprano, Clare Rutter, will also perform along with a number of Hampshire musical groups such as the Winchester Cathedral Girl Choristers.
Pamela Healy OBE, CEO of Breast Cancer Haven, said: “Without the funds from BMF, this event may not have gone ahead. As lead sponsor, we would very much like to thank them for their contribution and allowing us to put on what is set to be a magical occasion.”
Sarah Parish, actress and co-founder of The Murray Parish Trust, added: “The BMF has been a huge supporter of our efforts to raise £2million towards building a brand new Paediatric Emergency and Trauma Department (A&E). We can’t thank them enough for allowing us and Breast Cancer Haven to run an event which will hopefully raise even more funds for both charities.”
Tim Jobling, BMF Trustee, said: “The Barker-Mill Foundation is delighted to be sponsoring A Celebration at Winchester Cathedral. It’s set to be a fantastic occasion and has certainly caught the attention of local people as tickets sold out almost straight away! More have recently been released but there are only a few left, so I would urge anyone thinking about going to buy their ticket before they are all gone. You will be supporting two fantastic charities at the most wonderful time of year.”
