Our Trustees

Simon Barker is a Chartered Surveyor with 25 years’ experience and is a Fellow of the Association of Agricultural Valuers. He has a first degree in Rural Estate Management and an MBA in Business Management.

Simon has worked for Longdown Management since 1998 and was appointed Managing Director in 2009. Longdown Management Ltd is the in-house property management company for the Barker-Mill Family Estates, mainly located on the eastern side of the New Forest and ebbing towards Southampton. Simon became Chairman for the Barker-Mill Foundation in June 2023.

Simon has been a Committee Member of the Hampshire Branch of the Country Land and Business Association, past Chairman of Hampshire County Growmore Clubs and Chairman of Hampshire, Wiltshire and Dorset Agricultural Valuers Committee during the 2016 Centenary year. Simon has also been a Parent Governor of a local primary school.

Simon interests include farming and country pursuits.

Trustee and Administrator, Chris Gwyn-Evans

Chris Gwyn-Evans is a retired Chartered Surveyor and was appointed as a Trustee in 1995; since then he has also been the administrator of The Foundation.

His association with the Barker-Mill family started in 1973. He was appointed Managing Director of the family’s Estate Management Company in 1977 and is now Chairman of Longdown Management Ltd.

Chris was Chairman of the New Forest Agricultural Show Society from 1994 to 2000 and has been closely involved with various New Forest organisations over the years.

Chris is keen on rugby, cooking and travel.

Carl Jackson is the Founder and Managing Partner of Quantuma, an independent business advisory firm which he established in 2013. Since the launch of his business, he has successfully created and implemented the company’s strategic plan to be the leading independent practice in the UK mid-market across the Advisory spectrum. Prior to this, Carl led the national restructuring team of a listed full services accountancy firm.

Carl is Chairman of the Trustees of the Barker-Mill Trusts and was appointed as a Trustee of the Barker-Mill Foundation in April 2025.

His interests include golf (when he has the time), running, watching his beloved Manchester United and driving his children to and from various after school activities!!
