The Species Recovery Trust was set up in 2011 with the purpose of removing at least fifty species from the brink of extinction.
Their latest project is to survey for one of the rarest insects in the country, the New Forest Cicada. The rare insect had not been found for many years in the UK, but is believed to still survive in some areas of the New Forest.
BMF has donated £1,000 to the charity to encourage volunteers to survey the area to re-discover this lost species.
