We’ve Supported

Since 1995 the Barker-Mill Foundation has supported many organisations in southwest Hampshire and has given substantial funding to local community groups. Schools and pre-schools have also received donations to improve outdoor play areas and facilities, enhancing all aspects of school life. The Foundation Trustees have also supported medical research and infrastructure and projects involving the arts, wildlife and conservation.

Buildings that the Barker-Mill family has personal associations with have received funding for necessary works and the Foundation has also contributed to the funding of local medical research.

Feedback

“Because of your continued kindness, we can provide vital care, opportunities and moments of joy for children and young people with complex physical disabilities. Your support opens doors to new friendships, new skills and greater independence. It gives families space to breathe and the support they need to stay together through times that could push them apart. Every day, we see the difference that this makes. A child gaining confidence. A young person discovering something they love. A family feeling less alone. Siblings reconnecting with their parents. These moments are only possible because people like you choose to stand alongside them. Thank you for believing in this work, and for your compassion and generosity. We are truly grateful.” (April 2026)

Thank you for your support for children and young people with cancer and their families. Your funding of Jean’s House upgrades has given families a comforting and welcoming free place to stay while having cancer treatment in Southampton. With your grant, we installed new fencing and gates at Jean’s House, ensuring that the Home from Home remains safe and secure.

Yours sincerely

“Thanks to the Barker Mill Foundation, YFM has been able to support children in Totton who are facing anxiety, anger, low self-esteem and difficult life circumstances by providing a safe, consistent space where they can be heard and understood. This funding has enabled us to deliver early, targeted support for those whose emotional and behavioural needs are impacting their experience at school. Through weekly, child-led sessions and reflective journaling, children are learning to make sense of their feelings, develop healthier ways to cope, and build the confidence and resilience they need to thrive both in and beyond the classroom.” (March 2026)
